It's Christmas Day. We decided to go on a hike with Eunice and show her more of beautiful Sedona. The weather has been cold and rainy. But we were absolutely not expecting snow. It was one of those totally unplanned, spontaneous day where the snowfall was just enough to make this an epic hike. Eunice is my second cousin. We were both born and raised in Singapore. We grew up in a city near the Equator with no seasons. While I have seen snow during my younger days, and have skied since moving to California, Eunice has never seen snow in her life.
To share this experience with her was absolutely heart warming, exhilarating, and made me feel thankful for the life I have now in this beautiful country with so much to offer.
Eunice getting hit by snow blowing up the canyon. She's wearing my beloved hiking boots here. The first thing I bought after Kevin and I started dating years ago. These Lowa Bora GTX are still going strong and I love them. They've never given me blisters and I would not have survived all the hikes I did with Kevin if not for these boots. I got mine from REI years ago and they don't sell them there anymore. But you can still find them from other online retailers like Amazon and Moosejaw. They usually go on season sale and you can get a good deal on past colors.
Her first snowman. We had an energizing hike up to the summit, enjoyed the beautiful views and of course, Kevin cannot resist a snow fight. We are so happy and feel so lucky to have had this epic hike, on Christmas Day! What a gift from the Hiking Gods.
