Two days in Shanghai and I am promptly down with a nasty cold. This one is kicking my butt. I've been oiling up with my DoTerra oils non-stop, drinking a ton of warm water and taking hot hot showers to try and knock this out but still feel like I need to lay down all the time. Today I finally feel slightly better, but the headaches are killing me. The air pollution here is pretty bad. It doesn't help when my throat already hurts and I'm having trouble breathing. What a way to start this new adventure. At least the food and soups here are delicious.
Kevin has been relocated to Shanghai for a few months. Yay! Which means we get to be in Asia for a while. Initially I had decided to go back to my first love, theme park construction management but it doesn't seem to be working out like I had hoped. I think I am too late in the game and all the positions that were once open are no longer available. I guess the Universe has other things planned for me and I shall go with the flow.
Hopefully after I get over this cold and our jet lag, Kyan and I can find our daily rhythm and start adventuring this new city. I am excited. One of my priorities while we are here is to work on speaking Mandarin with Kyan. I have been slacking off back home with Kyan because my days are hectic enough without trying to explain to him twice what I needed to get done. But that's going to change while we are here. He is already starting to speak more Mandarin with me since we got here last week, especially asking for the things he want, like apples, strawberry ice-cream and the latest - roasted mutton leg.
Since we are so close to Hong Kong, Singapore and Tokyo, I am planning to sneak over with Kyan to reconnect with my friends and family. I have not seen many of you for many years and am definitely looking forward to hanging out and sharing stories and laughs.
I have been also been brewing an exciting project in my mind for a while and am going to be using my freetime here in Shanghai to draft, design and get creative. Hopefully I will gain some headway and have it ready by the time we get home. I am also going to resume blogging, so to all my friends who have been wildly supportive of me and my blogging, I'm BACK! Facebook (and Instagram!) is non-existent here. There is a way to go around the firewall but I have not looked into that yet. In the meantime, I shall be updating through my blog with lots of pictures of our happenings and food adventures so please comment, subscribe, share or like here at the bottom of my posts if you can so I can read and stay in touch with you. Your voice helps me feel that I'm still somewhat connected back home! I am also on WeChat if you want to text me. Jet lag is kicking in and this killer flu is something else. I am going to steal some winks while Kyan is down for his nap.
XO, Kelly
